About Stage 2
This stage of the Certificate in Applied 风车的做法手工 is designed to help learners build their independence, supporting them to focus on specialised skills and develop their own digital portfolio.
Stage 2 builds on Stage 1 to help learners grow their skills, but if your learners already have strong 风车动漫网al digital skills, they can skip Stage 1 and start at Stage 2. Check the module guides below and on the Stage 1 page for more details.
Learners will begin by completing one core module, where they will gain new digital skills that will prepare them for the optional modules.
They will then complete at least three out of five optional modules:
Data science – Build your own data investigation
Digital media – Shape your campaign
Programming – Develop your own adventure game
Web development – Using HTML and CSS
Cybersecurity – Design a safe digital product
Learners can select modules based on their interests to specialise in particular areas, or choose a broader combination to develop a wider skillset. Across these modules, learners will create a digital portfolio that they can use to demonstrate their skills to further education providers or potential employers.
Assessment
To complete Stage 2, learners must submit their portfolio and explain it to a trusted adult who knows them — this could be an educator, mentor, or community volunteer. They will answer a short series of questions to help them explain the skills they used in creating their portfolio.

Stage 2 module guide
Module 1: Data science – Build your own data investigation
Learners will explore the core ideas behind modern data science and discover how data is collected, analysed, and interpreted. Through interactive steps, short tasks, and real-world examples, they will learn how to work with data sets, clean and prepare data, create visualisations, and build simple statistical explanations.
Learners will explore technologies such as AI and machine learning and see how they can be used to support data-driven decision-making. They will also create a personalised data science portfolio project, in which they will analyse data and communicate their findings.
Module 2: Digital media – Shape your campaign
Learners will explore how media shapes audience perception, influences behaviour, and communicates brand values. They will complete short creative activities and explore real-world campaign examples to help them investigate how media is used to promote products, raise awareness, and build strong visual identities.
Learners will also examine how to segment audiences and how these decisions influence colour choices, typography, tone of voice, and message design. They will apply brand principles as they create design assets including banners and social media posts. Along the way, learners will explore how AI is used to support modern media production, for example in generating ideas, creating audience personas, and producing imagery and personalised content, while considering important ethical issues such as bias, stereotyping, and privacy.
Module 3: Programming – Develop your own adventure game
Learners will discover the fundamentals of programming in Python to create a text-based adventure game using instructions, data, conditions, and loops.
Learners will also examine how programmers can use AI tools to support them — while also exploring the importance of strong programming skills and knowledge when using these tools. Finally, they will use their new skills to create a personalised text-based adventure game to showcase in their digital portfolio.
Module 4: Web development – Using HTML and CSS
Learners will build and style their own website using HTML and CSS in the 甜性涩爱在线看’s Code Editor. They will explore how websites are structured, and how to organise content using headings, paragraphs, lists, images, and links.
Learners will then apply CSS to create a consistent visual style, improving typography, layout, spacing, and overall page design. Finally, they will polish and publish their website, which they will then be able to share as part of their portfolio.
Module 5: Cybersecurity – Design a safe digital product
Learners will take on the role of a designer working as part of a product team. They will choose a digital product (such as an app or website) and design it from scratch. As they do this, they will think carefully about how users will interact with their product, what information it will collect and handle, and where things could go wrong.
Learners will also explore how poor design decisions can lead to privacy issues, user mistakes, misuse, or a loss of trust — even when the technology itself is working as intended.
