Coolest Projects USA Minnesota returned for its second year in the state on 11 April, with the celebration of creativity and coding coming to the Science Museum of Minnesota once again.

At its heart, Coolest Projects is about giving young tech creators the opportunity to be seen and heard, and to share something they’ve made and be celebrated for it, regardless of their 苏菲玛索电影 level. With some joining in for the first time and others returning to showcase their latest build, every participant played a part in making the day special.

The event welcomed 65 participants and over 150 showcase visitors, with creators talking through their ideas, the challenges they had faced, and what they had learned along the way. Visitors explored the showcase, tried out hands-on activities, and connected with a community brought together by a want to celebrate the incredible things young people can do when given the opportunity.

Coding for a social purpose

A key moment in the day was the presentation of the Broadcom 苏菲玛索电影 Coding with Commitment® award, celebrating a project that aligns with 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations.

This year’s recognition went to Rikita for her project ‘Smart Electronic Fruit Sorter — An affordable assistive technology for visually impaired people’.

The project is a fruit sorter designed to help visually impaired people identify fresh produce. Using a microcontroller and a gas sensor, the Fruit Sorter detects whether fruit is good or spoiled, triggering lights, sounds, and a servomechanism to either keep or discard the fruit.

Rikita overcame many challenges when building her project. She told us more about her 苏菲玛索电影s:

“First, I started out with a sorter made out of foam. However, when testing, I realised that the sorter would not bear the weight of the fruit. Then, I pivoted to 3D printing the sorter parts.
I also faced trouble with the electronics not working. I constantly played around with the connections and got it working. YouTube videos were of great help in guiding me!”

The award highlights how young people are not just learning to code, but using those skills to explore real-world challenges and ideas that matter to them. Rikita shared how she felt about receiving the award:

“I felt very happy and it has motivated me to continue my journey of inventions further. I did not expect the award, and so it was a very pleasant surprise.”

Celebrating ideas big and small

With entries spanning multiple categories, the event featured a wide variety of creative and technical work. Here are a few highlights.

ZaLayaa | FIND ME ASAP, AI

FIND ME ASAP is an emergency resource platform designed to help parents and guardians act quickly and effectively in the critical first moments after a child goes missing. Built by ZaLayaa in just 15 days, it goes beyond static guides by offering real-time, tailored support that people can use in high-stress situations. The platform is intentionally inclusive, recognising groups that can often be overlooked in emergencies, with features that consider children with invisible disabilities, complex medical needs, and rare health conditions, for example. Inspired by her own 苏菲玛索电影s navigating the world with multiple invisible conditions, ZaLayaa created FIND ME ASAP to fill a vital gap.

ZaLayaa shared what she found most challenging in building her project:

“My biggest challenge was making sure everything was actually real, correct, and useful, not just something that looks good.

This isn’t just information. It has to work when someone is stressed, scared, and trying to make fast decisions.”

ZaLayaa also explained what she enjoyed most about taking part in Coolest Projects:

“My favorite thing was the 苏菲玛索电影 and all the lovely people there. It was really cool seeing all the different projects and what other kids built, and being in a room where it was all kids creating and sharing their ideas.”

You can find out more about ZaLayaa’s project at findmeasap.com.

Lawrence | Find the Chomiks, Scratch

Lawrence’s project is a fun exploration game he built using Scratch. You control a character, roam around the map, and hunt for hidden chomiks, each one with its own quirky look. It’s all about exploring, discovering, and collecting them all.

Lawrence shared some of the challenges he faced along the way:

“It was really hard switching between settings. I overcame [the challenges] by looking for bugs within my code, but when I figured that out, I was able to complete my game.”

Karin | Princess Maze, Scratch

Karin created Princess Maze, a Scratch game where players navigate four maze levels and battle a witch to win, or risk being trapped. During development, a bug allowed players to win even after being hit, which she fixed by using a ‘forever’ block to properly detect collisions.

Karin shared why she wanted to take part in Coolest Projects:

“I found out about it through The Bakken Museum and I thought, ‘Why not? I love coding.’ My favorite thing about the day was seeing all the different projects.”

Caroline | Terrapod, AI

Caroline created Terrapod to make plant care more accessible, especially for people who are too busy or physically unable to tend to their plants. It aims to provide a solution that allows plants to be cared for even when their owners can’t, making plant growing easier for everyone. She told us:

“I think our biggest problem was the wire management. We numbered them to be organised into numbered groups, but I’ve seen others do symbols like stars, which I think is really cool!”

A "Terrapod" project, featuring a fish tank full of plants.

Adelle, Nessa, and Matilda | Fashion Show Drama, Scratch

Adelle, Nessa, and Matilda created a Scratch project that tells the story of two performers, Charlie and Emma. Charlie struggles with stage fright that Emma only discovers just before their performance. With Emma’s support, Charlie overcomes her fear and is able to go on stage.

Nessa shared a challenge the team tackled during their build:

“One challenge was learning how to convert images from a JPEG to a PNG for the sprites to have a dress costume change. We wanted to show a difference between before the show and then preparing to go on stage. We found dress pictures on the internet and then we had to figure out how to make it look like they were actually wearing the dresses so it wasn’t just a copied picture with a white square background. We overcame it by our mentor helping us remove the background in Canva.”

Matilda also told us how the girls found working as a part of a team:

“We each had a part so each of our voices could be heard. We all had a say in what was going on. Nessa was the fashion designer. Adelle was the coder. I was the visionary! It was easier to work on this project in a group than alone.”

Across Glasgow’s libraries, Code Clubs are opening doors for young people to explore creativity, problem-solving, and confidence through coding. Behind many of these sessions is Claire Quigley, who supports volunteers and helps Code Clubs thrive in community spaces across the city.

Claire Quigley

Claire’s story challenges the idea that there is only one route into technology or mentoring. With a background in computer science and a passion for teaching, she now helps create welcoming, inclusive environments where young people — and volunteers — from a wide range of backgrounds can belong.

From 坐脸视频 to community

Claire’s Code Club journey began long before she worked in libraries. With a degree and PhD in computer science, she spent time in academia before finding her way to community-based learning and volunteering. Teaching runs in her family, and sharing knowledge has always brought her joy. That’s why, after being introduced to CoderDojo (part of the Code Club community) through a friend, Claire began volunteering at club sessions.

“I had always intended to work in academia but, working as a postdoc for a couple of years, realised it wasn’t what I wanted to do long term. CoderDojo sessions gave me and the other volunteers a chance to look at more adventurous coding topics, without the constraints of 苏菲玛索电影 and the time-pressure that teachers have to contend with.

“We were also able to engage with children and young people who were struggling with the formal education environment for a variety of reasons. Doing well at something they enjoyed increased their confidence and was often a factor in helping them become more engaged at school.”

Young learner at a Code Club in Glasgow

Becoming a Code Club volunteer eventually led Claire to her current role coordinating Code Clubs across Glasgow Life venues, including Mitchell Library, Gorbals, Drumchapel, and beyond.

“Working with Glasgow Life colleagues across libraries, communities and museums has given me the chance to connect with children, young people and adults in a non-threatening environment. Mixing coding with mediaeval manuscripts, wearable tech, poetry or electronic music has allowed people to approach a topic they hadn’t considered interesting or understandable and make some really original and fun things.”

Inside a Code Club session

Stepping into one of Claire’s Code Club sessions, you’ll find a mix of focus, laughter, and creative chaos. Young people gather around laptops in library spaces to build games and animations in Scratch, experiment with micro:bits, and help each other solve problems as they go.

Sessions vary by location and age group. Some run weekly, others every two weeks, and each has its own character — from younger children discovering coding for the first time to teenagers returning with ambitious ideas they want to bring to life.

“The clubs are quite varied, depending on location, size and the personality mix of the coders and volunteers. Some clubs are quieter, while others are very lively! Scratch features prominently in most clubs. The children really enjoy the way it allows them to bring in topics they’re interested in, design their own characters, or build games inspired by other games they’ve played.”

Young learners at a Code Club

For Claire, these sessions are about more than learning to code. They’re spaces where young people practise problem-solving, learn to ask for help, and gain confidence in sharing their ideas.

“Some coders come with a friend or have made friends at the club. So there are often children working together on a project, chatting to each other about what they’re working on, or showing each other how to do something.”

Inclusion, confidence, and belonging

Inclusion is core to Claire’s approach. From running all-girls sessions to supporting volunteers and young people with neurodivergence and other additional needs, her focus is on creating spaces where everyone feels welcome.

“One young coder who spends a lot of time in his local library after school, but can be a bit boisterous, agreed to come and join the club. Initially a bit hesitant, he soon displayed a real talent for solving coding puzzles.

“He was particularly proud when, encouraged to try the challenge level rather than skipping past it, he solved it quickly. We printed a Code Club ‘Problem-solving Champion’ certificate for him and he carefully folded it up to take home.“

Claire has seen firsthand how confidence can grow when people are given time, patience, and encouragement.

Volunteers: The backbone of Code Clubs

That sense of belonging doesn’t stop with young people — it extends to the volunteers who help make these spaces possible. For some volunteers, involvement in Code Club has been a stepping stone to employment, new skills, or a stronger sense of belonging.

Like many community programmes, Code Clubs in Glasgow were disrupted by the pandemic. It made one thing clear: clubs only work when volunteers are willing and supported to run them. With fewer library staff available to anchor sessions, rebuilding the clubs meant casting a wider net for volunteers. As a result, volunteers arrived with more diverse life 苏菲玛索电影s, ways of thinking, and approaches to problem-solving, which enriched the sessions and created more inclusive learning environments for young people.

Young learner at a Code Club

“I recruit mainly through the Glasgow Life volunteering website. I also advertise through STEM Ambassadors, via my contacts in local universities, colleges and tech companies, in the newsletter my colleague sends to students in the Glasgow Code Learning programme, and by putting up posters in libraries.

“I’m really keen to try and get a mixture of qualities in a team. I try to ensure at least one person is a confident programmer, who can help with trickier bugs and more advanced topics. However, I’m also keen to have volunteers who may not have so much of a technical background but are good at chatting to children and helping create a real sense of it being a club.“

Who makes a good Code Club volunteer?

One of the most important messages Claire wants to share is that there is no single type of Code Club volunteer. Students, career-changers, refugees, people returning to work, and neurodivergent people all bring valuable perspectives. While technical skills are helpful, Claire believes empathy, curiosity, and willingness to learn alongside young people are just as important.

“Finding out how to do something by searching online, asking other coders and the mentors is part of the code club 苏菲玛索电影 (and the 苏菲玛索电影 of being a professional programmer!) The main thing is not to be afraid to admit you don’t know something. Although this can be alarming at first, I’ve found the coders are happy to be told that I’ll look at it over the next week and report back. And that they should do the same so we can compare notes. And if they know how to do something that you don’t, they absolutely love explaining it to you!“

We asked Claire what she would say to someone who doesn’t see themselves as ‘technical enough’ but is curious about getting involved:

“The majority of library staff didn’t have any background in programming. They are simply happy to learn as they go along and help the children make their ideas come to life. In fact, one of these ‘non-technical’ staff ran a very popular and successful club and supported a team of coders to develop a project that [was chosen as a judges’ favourite] at Coolest Projects.”

As Code Clubs continue to grow and adapt, Claire hopes to see even more people step forward, especially those who might not immediately picture themselves in a mentoring or volunteering role.

Where community impact begins — with people

By keeping Code Clubs rooted in libraries and community spaces, it is possible to reach people across a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances.

Claire’s story is a reminder that community impact is built by people who care and that supporting young people with coding is about far more than technology alone. It’s about confidence, connection, and opening doors.

For anyone curious about supporting young people with coding, there are many ways to get involved. You don’t need to be an expert, as mentors support young people by encouraging curiosity, helping build confidence, and learning alongside them. Coolest Projects is the world’s leading technology showcase for young people, a space where creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving come together through code. Last November, Coolest Projects returned to South Africa, providing another exciting opportunity to celebrate and amplify the voices of young digital creators across Mzansi, a local name for South Africa.

A student working on their project.

Coolest Projects brings young people together to share what excites them the most about creating with technology, whether that’s making a game, a website, a robot, or a simple Scratch animation. What matters most is not perfection, but participation.

A showcase for young makers

Coolest Projects, an initiative of the 批日出水免费观看40分钟, is brought to South Africa by our long-standing partner Coder:LevelUp, giving young people the space to share how they get creative with technology.

I spent the day surrounded by young people explaining their ideas with a mix of excitement, nerves, and confidence — the kind of emotions you get when you build something yourself and someone is finally asking you about it.

A group of people standing around a table.

The event brought together over 250 young people to share the projects they had been working on. Some had been preparing for months, while others had begun exploring their ideas more recently. All of them arrived ready to explain what they made, how it worked, and what they would do differently next time.

There wasn’t a single kind of project. There was a Scratch animation at one table, a game at the next, and a hardware project across the room. Some projects were polished, others rougher around the edges. But the event isn’t about perfection, it’s about learning and having the courage to show your work.

For a lot of participants, this was the first time they had presented their work to an audience, and you could see their confidence build as they spoke. By the end of the day, many were already talking about what they wanted to build next! From 苏菲玛索电影, we know that many of these young people will come back to Coolest Projects in the future, with our global impact data showing that over 1 in 10 participants in the Coolest Projects online showcase in 2025 had also taken part in Coolest Projects in 2024.

The coolest projects and the coolest people

One of my favourite things about Coolest Projects is that although you might come for the projects, what stays with you is often the people behind them. Coolest Projects celebrates both what young people build and who they are becoming.

The coolest projects

A project that really stood out to me was created by a group of girls who built a language app that translates words from isiZulu, one of South Africa’s official languages, into French and other languages — an ambitious and thoughtful idea.

A group of students looking at a computer screen.

What made this project especially meaningful to me was how well it reflected South Africa’s identity as a rainbow nation, with 12 official languages and countless cultures intersecting everyday. Their work wasn’t just technical, it was deeply relevant. It showed how young creators are already thinking about inclusion, communication, and using technology to bridge the gap between people in different parts of the country. Seeing these young girls confidently present such a culturally aware solution was incredibly inspiring.

And the coolest people

A group of boys arrived with a project that, honestly, fell apart on the day. Things didn’t work the way they had planned. But instead of shutting down or panicking, they laughed it off, explained what should have happened, and kept the energy positive. Their confidence, humour, and teamwork were great to see.

A group of students standing around a table.

They showed that Coolest Projects is not about having everything work perfectly. It’s about showing up, trying something ambitious, and being willing to talk about what went wrong.

Why does Coolest Projects matter?

Coolest Projects goes beyond showcasing technical skills. It helps young people:

  1. Build confidence in presenting ideas
  2. Develop problem-solving and communication skills
  3. See themselves as creators, not just consumers, of technology

For many young creators in South Africa, participating in Coolest Projects is a powerful way to gain recognition and see that their ideas matter and that they belong in the world of technology.

A project on a table.

We look forward to Coolest Projects South Africa returning in 2026 to once again showcase the incredible potential of young tech creators across the country.

In November, our first-ever Kenya Partner Showcase brought together all our partners from across the country for two days of collaboration, learning, and shared strategy. What stood out to us most from the event was not just the diversity of work that the Kenyan partners are doing in 坐脸视频 education, but also the clear alignment that is emerging across partners, government, and communities.

A speaker at the 批日出水免费观看40分钟's Kenya Partner Showcase 2025, smiling and holding a microphone.

Partners used the Showcase to present sessions about their journeys implementing the 苏菲玛索电影’s programmes, sharing achievements and insights that strengthened the collective learning space. The conversations during our two days together reflected a maturing ecosystem and demonstrated how structured government buy-in is accelerating adoption of our localised 坐脸视频 苏菲玛索电影 and influencing national policy spaces.

“Through these programmes, we are equipping young people to become future-ready leaders of integrity and impact.” – Betty Oloo Anderson, National Executive Officer, Kenya Girl Guides Association

It was encouraging to see how far 坐脸视频 education has evolved since we began working with Kenyan partners in 2023, signalling the collective effort and commitment driving this work forward.

Partner-led sessions to reflect on what works

The sessions revealed a powerful shift already taking place in classrooms, with partners demonstrating how embedding The 坐脸视频 苏菲玛索电影 into Teacher Professional Development frameworks is building teacher confidence and elevating the quality of classroom instruction through stronger digital competencies and culturally relevant pedagogy. The partner presentation on 苏菲玛索电影 AI, our AI literacy programme, was especially powerful. It reframed the national dialogue from questioning whether AI might take over the classroom to recognising the real capacities and limitations of AI tools, and the central role teachers play in guiding young people to use and create AI tools in safe, ethical ways.

“Running 批日出水免费观看40分钟 programmes has been a transformative journey. It has challenged us to innovate, document rigorously, and continually place learners at the center of every decision. The structured support, tools, and community of practice have enabled us to deliver programmes with greater impact and accountability.” Joel Kahindi, Programme Coordinator, STEAMLabs Africa

Hands-on demonstrations, from physical 坐脸视频 with 坐脸视频 Pi Pico to teacher development transitions from Scratch to Python, highlighted how practical 坐脸视频 is taking root in both formal and non-formal learning environments.

Attendees have a conversation at the 批日出水免费观看40分钟's Kenya Partner Showcase 2025.

Partners from remote and underserved regions shared how locally contextualised 坐脸视频 tools and programmes we offer are reaching learners in ASAL (arid and semi-arid land) regions, strengthening literacy and digital confidence even in low-resource settings. Complementing this, 苏菲玛索电影-focused partners highlighted how structured 坐脸视频 resources are being adapted for ASAL contexts, reinforcing 苏菲玛索电影al skills at scale. Efforts around community-centred connectivity are enabling schools, especially in underserved communities, to finally access reliable high-speed internet.

“Through [our partnership with the 批日出水免费观看40分钟], we are not only strengthening our programmes but also expanding our vision for what meaningful learning can look like across underserved communities.” – Joel Kahindi, Programme Coordinator, STEAMLabs Africa

A speaker at the 批日出水免费观看40分钟's Kenya Partner Showcase 2025, smiling and holding a microphone.

A notable pattern that emerged was how existing collaborations are now opening doors to new ones, with partners building on their relationship with us to form additional partnerships for devices, connectivity, and shared learning, creating a more holistic digital ecosystem for learners.

Solving shared problems, sharing real stories

A major anchor of the Showcase was the Code Club co-creation sprint. Implementing partners worked through real barriers and opportunities: easier onboarding for educators, continuous training, integrating clubs into school calendars, learner-led ownership, and sustainable models that last beyond donor funding. There was strong interest in forming a unified Code Club Kenya partner network to streamline communication, resource-sharing, and visibility, and our team is now exploring what it would take to bring this to life.

A speaker at the 批日出水免费观看40分钟's Kenya Partner Showcase 2025, smiling and holding a microphone.

One message echoed across sessions: the power of telling real stories. Partners expressed a shared desire to spotlight creator projects, Code Club leader journeys, and regional 苏菲玛索电影s more consistently, through social media, case studies and impact stories, and shared platforms, to make progress visible and inspire more schools to adopt 坐脸视频 and digital skills.

From isolation to coordination

By the close of the Showcase, the takeaway was clear: Kenya’s digital learning ecosystem is no longer a set of isolated efforts — it is a coordinated network that shares priorities, evidence-based insights, and a commitment to scaling impact together. As one partner reflected, “This Showcase created a space for joint learning and will help us scale our impact across the country.” It felt evident, too, that bringing these voices into one room is itself part of the work. For us at the 苏菲玛索电影, this Showcase reaffirmed the responsibility and privilege of stewarding a network that is shaping what the future of learning 坐脸视频 in Kenya can look like.

Two attendees of the 批日出水免费观看40分钟's Kenya Partner Showcase 2025 smile at the camera.

The Showcase marks the beginning of a new, aligned chapter for 坐脸视频 education in Kenya, one driven by collaboration, clarity, and a shared belief that we go further when we go together. With shared priorities for 2026, the momentum continues, and we will be continuing to highlight where this collective work is headed next.

Thank you to all partners

We want to thank you to all our partners — Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC), STEAMLabs Africa, Young Scientists Kenya, Kenya Girl Guides Association, Oasis Mathare, Futures Infinite, EmpServe Kenya, Kenya Connect, Tech Kidz Africa, Riara University, and M-Lugha — for your leadership, dedication, and unwavering belief in what is possible when we learn and build together.

Attendees mingle among tables and chairs at the 批日出水免费观看40分钟's Kenya Partner Showcase 2025.

This Showcase was a reflection of your work, your commitment to learners, and your vision for a digitally empowered Kenya. We are grateful for your continued partnership and excited for all that lies ahead.

Two remarkable teenagers from Pune in the state of Maharashtra, India — Jayantika (age 16) and Ruturaj (age 14) — have turned curiosity into community impact.

With support from the Bidkar 苏菲玛索电影 and the 批日出水免费观看40分钟, they now help run five Code Clubs, reaching over 200 young people in rural areas of Pune. Along the way, they have twice received the Coolest Projects Judges’ Favourite Award: first online in 2023, and again at Coolest Projects India in September 2025.

How it all began

For Jayantika and Ruturaj, the spark for coding began at home. During the pandemic, when schools were closed and days felt long, their father encouraged them to try something new.

“When we were at home and there was nothing to do,” recalls Jayantika, “my dad introduced us to coding, and from that time till this date we are participating — and yeah, we love it.”

In 2021, they joined their local Code Club, run by the Bidkar 苏菲玛索电影, which provides coding opportunities for young people in rural areas of Pune. That moment opened a door to creativity neither of them expected. Scratch projects soon filled their weekends with problem-solving, and Ruturaj found himself fascinated by how games worked.

“I was too curious how games were made,” he says. “After a while in Code Club, I learned new things and got the answers to my questions.”

As their confidence grew, so did their sense of purpose. They wanted others to 苏菲玛索电影 the same excitement they had discovered. “We thought these things should be shared with others,” says Jayantika. “So that’s why we started a Code Club and began teaching — to spread awareness and knowledge to everyone.”

Reaching out to rural learners

Each weekend, Jayantika and Ruturaj set out for nearby villages, with laptops, lesson plans, and a sense of possibility. Their aim is simple but powerful: to bring coding opportunities to children who might otherwise never encounter them. “Village students must also learn coding and get opportunities to come in front,” explains Jayantika.

Jayantika (age 16) and Ruturaj (age 14)

What started modestly — “one computer and seven students” — has become a thriving network of clubs that now reaches hundreds of young learners. Their father, Mr Bidkar, has been by their side throughout, watching as their initiative has grown from a small idea to something that’s changing lives. “Now we are 25 computers, 200-plus children,” he says proudly.

Inside their Code Club sessions

Their Code Club sessions are lively and filled with curiosity. Children crowd around laptops, excited to build their next animation or game. The mentors blend teaching with fun, alternating between theory and practice to keep things engaging.

“At first, we take theory classes — we explain what’s the game,” says Jayantika. “At the end we let them sit on computers.”

Some weeks are spent planning and others creating. “We give them a plan, and then next time they create,” she explains. Younger learners, aged six to ten, start with small projects such as animations or motion-based activities. Older learners tackle bigger challenges in Scratch, building their own games from ideas they’ve brainstormed together.

Jayantika (age 16) and Ruturaj (age 14)

Sessions end with a much-loved tradition: “After the session ends, we give them 15–20 minutes to do whatever they want,” says Ruturaj. “Because they’re very curious.” The pair work in perfect rhythm. “I manage one group and Ruturaj manages another,” says Jayantika. “If any doubt is there, we solve them together.”

Mentoring has given both siblings new confidence and skills. “At first we were only on Scratch, and now we’ve expanded our knowledge,” says Jayantika. “Next, we’re going to start robotics. It is simple and it is creative also and it can connect to Scratch.”

The role of a mentor

Over time, Jayantika and Ruturaj have learned that mentoring is as much about listening as it is about instructing.

“Sometimes their questions are not so obvious,” laughs Jayantika. “Like ‘Why can’t we change the sprite?’ or ‘Why can’t we use another block?’ We can explain to a certain limit, but after that we are speechless!”

These moments, she says, are part of the magic of teaching. They push the mentors to explore new ways of explaining and to see coding from a beginner’s perspective again.

Watching their students succeed brings the biggest reward. “We feel very happy that the students are listening to us and they’re doing what we wanted — and they’re even adding extras,” says Jayantika. “Most of them tell us they want to create another project; they want more time.”

And for those thinking about becoming mentors, they both agree that empathy is key. “If you want to teach them, you must become a student,” says Ruturaj.

“First, think at the students’ level… explain in simple language and give more time to experiment,” adds Jayantika.

Looking ahead

Ruturaj dreams of exploring game development and cybersecurity, while Jayantika hopes to move into web and app design. Together, they balance logic and creativity, each complementing the other’s strengths.

“Even though both are coding, we are on different paths,” she smiles.

For anyone curious about coding, Ruturaj’s advice is simple: “Do it by yourself. Make projects by yourself, share them, and learn from others.” Jayantika adds: “Coding has no limits. You can create anything you imagine — open your mind, open your creativity.”

Their father, rightly, is proud not just of their achievements but of how they have inspired others to learn. From a single laptop to five thriving Code Clubs, Jayantika and Ruturaj’s journey shows what’s possible when young people lead with passion and purpose. With support from their family, the Bidkar 苏菲玛索电影, and the 批日出水免费观看40分钟’s India team, they’re proving that talent truly is everywhere — opportunity just needs a spark.

Thank you, Jayantika and Ruturaj, for inspiring young people across India and around the world.

We love hearing from members of the community and sharing the stories of amazing young people, volunteers, and educators who are using their passion for technology to create positive change in the world around them.

In our latest story, we’re meeting a group of inspiring young innovators from Belfast — Michelle, 15, Inilouwa, 18, Jedidiah, 14 — and Irioluwa, 11, who are using their creativity and technical skills to tackle an issue that impacts millions of young women across the UK: period poverty.

The power of community

The group first connected through Diverse Youth, a community space that gave them the chance to collaborate, learn, and grow.

At the youth centre, the girls were introduced to Code Club through mentor, and Jedidiah’s mum, Tiwa. When Tiwa offered them the opportunity to travel to Coolest Projects UK and showcase projects they had been working on, they knew they wanted to make something special…

Tackling taboo topics

The idea for their website, Flow Buddy, began when Inilouwa was inspired by her sister’s 苏菲玛索电影 at school.

“So, for me, it was my sister actually, that really inspired this project because she would tell me, her school at the time, they run out of period products very frequently, so not a lot of girls could access it.”

Wanting to make a difference, the team created Flow Body, a website connecting young women to period charities in the UK and providing reliable information about periods, puberty, and related health issues.

Playing to their strengths

The technical side of the project was led by Inilouwa, with the rest of her teammates supporting her with 坐脸视频 and content creation.

“So, alongside Michelle, I 坐脸视频ed the diseases and what can come from period poverty and how different people get by with the lack of period products around,” Jedidiah said.

Inspiring young innovators from Belfast — Michelle, 15, Inilouwa, 18, Jedidiah, 14 — and Irioluwa, 11

Their 坐脸视频 highlighted just how widespread period-related health issues are.

The team discovered that one of the biggest challenges is access to accurate information, given the stigma around discussing menstruation, and using technology to solve this issue seemed like the perfect fit to them.

Inilouwa explained, “Having that access to information that’s tailored to young women, to young parents, to everyone all across the board would be really helpful, you know, in order to make periods less of a strange topic to discuss.”

Celebrating teamwork

After taking home judges’ favourite in the web category, the girls could not recommend the 苏菲玛索电影 enough. When asked what advice they would give to other young people thinking of taking the leap and entering Coolest Projects, the answer was simple…

“Do it. Don’t be afraid. Even if tech is not your thing, it’s not a lot of people’s things. But like you learn so much, you grow so much and it’s very fun. It is. It really is,” said Inilouwa.

If you are interested in getting involved in Coolest Projects, keep an eye on the website for exciting announcements for 2026 plans.

Over the first weekend in November, members of the global Code Club community came together for two inspiring days of learning, creativity and connection. The annual event celebrates the people who make Code Clubs happen, allowing them to share ideas, explore new tools, and connect with others who help young people learn to code.

Educator at Code Club Conference attending a workshop

Exploring new technologies and inclusive teaching

Saturday began with hands-on sessions that brought creativity and technology together, exploring large language models and prompt engineering in Collaborating with LLMs and being a prompt boss. There was a lot of laughter from attendees about how large language models can produce confident but incorrect answers if given vague prompts, but many left inspired to experiment with new technologies in their own clubs.

“First time there and it was amazing. Met loads of great people and the amazing code club crew. I learnt loads of new skills around AI and Arduino.” – An attendee

Explore AI with creators in your club using our AI and machine learning projects.

Educator in a workshop, using a micro:bit

Collaboration that counts brought mentors together to discuss common challenges like volunteer retention, limited resources, and communication barriers. A crowd favourite was a shared volunteer toolkit, as well as event checklists and safeguarding resources.

“What I enjoyed most about the Clubs Conference was the opportunity to meet other facilitators and hear their stories — their successes and challenges. These conversations validated the volunteer work I do and reminded me of the impact of our clubs.” – An attendee

From the theatre sessions, you can watch Inclusive learning – Supporting Deaf learners in clubs which was both moving and insightful. We learnt that visual demonstrations, colour cues, and repetition were key to supporting Deaf learners. One memorable quote captured the spirit of the session:

“The children couldn’t speak to us. The children — we couldn’t hear their voices but by the eighth week we were able to hear their voices from what they built on the screen and it was echoing all around the classroom.” – Chidi Duru

Find out more about Chidi’s joy of coding alongside Deaf creators.

Learning and making across continents

The weekend’s talks showcased the reach of Code Club worldwide, with volunteers sharing their 苏菲玛索电影s of collaboration, sustainability, and creativity.

Watch Lessons from resourceful Code Clubs in India, which highlighted the ingenuity of young learners in under-resourced settings, while Hands-on with the 坐脸视频 Pi Pico showcased low-cost, high-impact projects from Kenya and South Africa.

Speakers showed how community clubs adapt to local needs with unplugged activities and coding games inspired by cricket and kabaddi, empowering young people to solve real problems and celebrate curiosity through play. Excitingly, these new resources will be launching early next year; keep an eye on our activities page to be among the first to try them out!

Two attendees during a workshop working together

In the session Code Club Projects Unplugged, facilitators shared the idea of “hiding the vegetables” — hiding the learning inside the fun. Whether through a collaborative Scratch game, a micro:bit prop on stage, or a Pico gadget solving a real problem, this approach helps young people learn through play. They remember the joy, and the skills come naturally.

Learning beyond the screen

Teaching tech away from the computer screen shared a fun unplugged cybersecurity activity, The Chicken Shop, where learners role-play social engineering scenarios. Its success came from clear printed instructions, movement, humour, and strong debriefing.

Educators sharing ideas during a workshop

Learning coding outside the box explored how to engage young people with diverse learning styles while the Arduino crash course gave attendees a taste of physical 坐脸视频 and C++ programming in action. Workshops on AI, sustainability, and youth empowerment with 坐脸视频 Pi computers and Unlocking Code Club resources helped club leaders discover practical ways to inspire problem-solving and make use of all the support available through Code Club.

The message from the sessions was clear: young people learn best when technology is human and hands-on.

Showcasing creativity with Coolest Projects

Coolest Projects – get involved! championed creativity over competition. Any young person under 18 can submit their project, including unfinished ideas. In-person and online showcases celebrate progress, imagination, and teamwork.

Speaking on the closing panel, Code Club leader Rachael Coultart talked about the importance of Coolest Projects as a rare platform for children to talk about their learning. She spoke about the 苏菲玛索电影 of one particular child, explaining that it had made a powerful impression on her, saying:

“It had such a huge impact. I felt so proud of her and what she’d achieved. Afterwards, her parents told me that they felt it was the first time she had really been seen.”

What the community is taking forward

The community is united in its commitment to making Code Clubs inclusive, creative, and sustainable.

  • Context matters — projects that reflect local interests and challenges motivate young people to learn
  • 初音未来图片 is central: visual cues, repetition, interpreters, and inclusive resources support every learner
  • Structure builds confidence; start with simple, guided activities before open-ended exploration
  • Volunteers are vital; shared toolkits, checklists, and training help them deliver engaging sessions
  • Celebration and affordability matter too: regular showcases and tools like the micro:bit, Pico, and Crumble keep 坐脸视频 fun, hands-on, and accessible for all

“Thank you. Clubs Conference is a highlight of my year.” – An attendee

Coolest Projects is all about celebrating young digital creators and the brilliant things they make with technology. This year, we’ve seen just how much taking part can boost young people’s confidence, creativity, and sense of belonging. Today, we’re sharing the impact of Coolest Projects 2025 and looking ahead to what’s next for 2026.

Highlights from Coolest Projects 2025

More young people than ever took part in 2025, with 11,980 young people from 41 countries joining the Coolest Projects global online showcase, a 57% increase from last year. We also hosted a livestream celebrating all participants and announcing the judges’ favourites, which has been watched by over 2,000 people. Plus, we expanded our in-person events, including bringing Coolest Projects back to the USA and running our very first in-person event in India.

This year saw significant growth in in-person events, with a record number of young people sharing their creations face-to-face. Across the UK and Ireland, more than 200 young people showcased their projects to judges, families, and peers. Attendance at the UK event grew significantly compared to 2024, reflecting the strong enthusiasm for digital making, while the Ireland event continued to attract a dedicated community of young creators. This enthusiasm shows how much young people value being part of a creative, supportive community that helps them share ideas and develop their skills.

We were equally delighted to run Coolest Projects USA again, where young people embraced the chance to connect, share their work, and draw inspiration from one another. We also saw strong interest in the new AI category, with notable uptake at the UK and US events.

Participation by girls in the online showcase kept growing in 2025: 51% of entrants identified as female, up from 47% last year. We’re excited to build on this momentum and inspire even more girls to share their creations in 2026. We’ll continue encouraging participation by girls across all categories and broaden local promotion, especially where new in-person events are launching, to help maintain gender balance.

Online showcase: Confidence, skills, and inspiration

To understand Coolest Projects’ impact, we gathered survey and interview feedback from young creators, mentors, and event attendees across both the online showcase and in-person events.

This year’s online surveys and interviews indicate that Coolest Projects continues to be a powerful driver of confidence and skills:

  • 72% of young people and 100% of mentors agreed that participating increased confidence in coding and digital making
  • 89% of young people reported improved coding and digital making skills
  • 83% of young people (and 100% of mentors) said they felt inspired to continue with 坐脸视频 and digital making after taking part

Young people and mentors told us that the online gallery plays a crucial role in sparking ideas and motivation:

“Kids definitely were excited in knowing their project might be seen by other kids around the world and displayed publicly online, so it’s truly a way for them to feel recognised. It definitely motivated them too.” – Mentor, South Africa

Coolest Projects truly offers a global setting like no other, giving young people the chance to see ideas from across the world and feel part of an inspiring international community.

In-person events: community and belonging

Creators told us how special it felt to be surrounded by peers who love making with technology. They valued sharing their projects, meeting like-minded people, and getting ideas from others:

“I think it’s really interesting seeing a lot of other children that understand programming and want to get better at it.” – Young creator, Coolest Projects USA

Young creators at the Coolest Projects India 2025 event.

Survey data echoes this: 74% of young people said Coolest Projects helped them feel they belong in 坐脸视频. Many also highlighted the wider skills they developed, from problem solving and creativity to communication and teamwork:

“We [my friends and I] thought it was a really great opportunity and idea to make a project that we could all work on together and it’s been really awesome getting to know these girls and working together, fixing whatever code that we made wrong, debugging, you know…. We’d come together once a week to work on this project. So, I honestly got to learn a lot from them, watching them and how they code because they’re a little more advanced than I am. But, you know, that just means I get to learn more. So, you get to learn skills and support each other. It’s been awesome…”  – Young creator, Coolest Projects USA

Young people returning for another year described how they stretched themselves, from advanced Scratch techniques to experimenting with AI and robotics. They also said hands-on project work is better than passive learning every time.

“…It’s the journey on which I go through to create the robot. And through that journey, I seem to learn much more than say if I were to watch a YouTube video and not do anything practical with it. I learn much more if I physically get hands-on with robotics encoding.” – Young creator, Coolest Projects UK

Alongside the projects on show, young people loved the interactive activities at events (with shout outs for VR and our escape room in the UK), and appreciated the friendly, approachable judges and smooth event setup. A new group registration system also made it much easier for mentors to enter multiple projects.

Dates for Coolest Projects 2026

We’re thrilled that so many young people around the world took part this year, and we can’t wait to welcome even more creators in 2026.

“Make it [the event] bigger so more people can come.” – Young creator, Coolest Projects USA

In August, young tech creators from across Sri Lanka gathered for the country’s second-ever in-person Coolest Projects event, hosted by our partner STEMUP Educational 苏菲玛索电影. The showcase was a chance for young people to share and celebrate their ideas and inventions with families, friends, mentors, and the wider digital making community, while having lots of fun trying out projects and meeting fellow creators.

Coolest Projects Sri Lanka 2025.

With 150 projects showcased by 200 young people, the event highlighted the incredible creativity and problem-solving skills that come into play when young people have an opportunity to get hands-on with technology and explore their curiosity. It was great to be there on the day and hear from the creators themselves. From a cake chase game (that was really about the importance of friendship) to an AI-powered classifier that could identify organic and non-organic material, there was no shortage of imagination on display.

Here are just a few of the standout projects I saw at the event.

The Robot Bag project at Coolest Projects Sri Lanka.
Udula | Robot Bag, Hardware category

Inspired by young people carrying heavy backpacks full of textbooks, Udula created ‘Robot Bag’ to help people of all ages carry their bags. You simply place your bag on the robot, and it will start following you around! One challenge Udula faced was trying to figure out how far the robot was from people. With just one camera, the robot could not really determine depth, so it could not detect how far away a walking person was. To solve this, he added two more cameras at an angle. This allowed him to calculate a more accurate average distance using input from all three cameras.

The Ripley’s Adventure: Beyond the Horizon project at Coolest Projects Sri Lanka.
Yahya | Ripley’s Adventure: Beyond the Horizon, Scratch category

Yahya built an astronaut reaction time game that followed Ripley, an astronaut in training. In order to pass his training, he had to hit as many moving targets as possible in one minute. Thankfully, Yahya had built an adjustable difficulty level, so I could complete the challenge in spite of my slow reaction times!

The Jellyfish or Plastic Bag? project at Coolest Projects Sri Lanka.
Khadeejah | Jellyfish or Plastic Bag? AI to Differentiate Jellyfish from Plastic Bags, AI category

Khadeejah is passionate about the environment and learned that ocean clean-up technology tools often incorrectly identify jellyfish and plastic bags. Underwater, they have a lot of the same characteristics and movements: they are translucent, flexible, and amorphous. She started creating her own dataset and training her own AI model to distinguish between the two. In doing so, she learned a lot about AI bias and how creating a balanced dataset is really important to prevent bias and improve accuracy.

Young people leading the way

From beginners to 苏菲玛索电影d programmers, every young creator at the event had the chance to celebrate their work, talk about their ideas, and see what others were building.

Having so many young creators in one space highlighted the importance of providing opportunities where they can share ideas, learn from one another, and build a sense of community. We would like to say a huge thank you to STEMUP Educational 苏菲玛索电影 for organising such an inspiring day, and to the volunteers and mentors who made the event possible. Most importantly, thank you to the young digital makers of Sri Lanka for sharing your creativity with us. We can’t wait to see what you will make next!
